TouchArcade, a prominent website for mobile game news and reviews, has officially shut down after 16 years of operation. The announcement was made by Jared Nelson, Editor in Chief, on September 16th, 2024. Daily updates have ceased, although the site may continue to post occasional features to honor prior commitments.
The closure is primarily due to financial difficulties, which have plagued the site for years. Despite avoiding intrusive ads and questionable sponsorships, the site was unable to generate sufficient revenue. Nelson acknowledged it was a “miracle” TouchArcade remained operational for as long as it did.
Founded in 2008, TouchArcade contributed over 33,000 articles and 4,000 game reviews, becoming a respected source for mobile gaming enthusiasts. While daily operations have ended, the site’s archive will remain accessible for reference.
The team will continue producing The TouchArcade Show podcast and plans to shift Patreon support toward maintaining it. Occasional posts, such as high-profile mobile game reviews or Game of the Year features, may also keep the site active in a reduced capacity. You can read the full announcement HERE.
