Wolfenstein 3 Reportedly in Active Development

MachineGames is reportedly in active development of Wolfenstein 3, the highly anticipated conclusion to its rebooted trilogy. While an official confirmation from Bethesda has yet to be released, credible sources including Jez Corden and Kotaku have indicated that the project is well underway. Studio lead Jerk Gustafsson has previously emphasized that the series was always envisioned as a trilogy, following The New Order and The New Colossus. With the 2019 release Youngblood serving as a spin-off rather than a mainline entry, fans have been waiting for years for a proper finale to B.J. Blazkowicz’s story.

Synergizing with Amazon’s TV Adaptation

The timing of the Wolfenstein 3 reveal may be strategically linked to other media projects. Reports suggest that Microsoft and Bethesda may align the game’s launch with an upcoming Wolfenstein TV series currently being developed by Amazon. This strategy mirrors the massive success of the Fallout television adaptation, which significantly boosted player numbers for the game franchise. By coordinating the game’s release with a high-budget series, the developers could maximize the cultural impact and reintroduce the alternate history setting to a global audience.

Potential Reveal and Anniversary Plans

Industry speculation points to a potential announcement in mid-2026, coinciding with Bethesda’s 40th anniversary in June. MachineGames teased late in 2025 that they were working on multiple unannounced projects, adding fuel to the fire that Wolfenstein 3 is one of their primary focuses. While the studio has also been busy with other major IPs like Indiana Jones, the completion of the Wolfenstein narrative remains a top priority for longtime fans. As always, until an official trailer debuts, these reports should be treated as rumors, though the mounting evidence suggests a return to Nazi-occupied America is imminent.
