“DOOM: The Dark Ages” Announced for PC and Consoles

At the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 held last night, one of the most exciting announcements was “DOOM: The Dark Ages,” the latest entry in the iconic DOOM series by id Software. This game serves as a prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal, delving into the DOOM Slayer’s past and the rage that drives him to battle demonic forces.

Set in a dark medieval world, the game features a unique aesthetic, with new enemies, weapon choices, and a classic-inspired design for the DOOM Slayer. Players can expect the signature fast-paced FPS gameplay, with familiar weapons like the Super Shotgun and new additions such as the Shield Saw, which doubles as both an offensive and defensive tool. Notably, the game will include epic large-scale battles where players control a Mecha Dragon.

Currently in active development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, DOOM: The Dark Ages is slated for a 2025 release. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, allowing subscribers to dive in from day one.
