NetEase Games has officially launched its highly anticipated free-to-play 5v5 hero shooter, FragPunk, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S as of March 6, 2025. During its closed beta in October 2024, FragPunk attracted over 1 million player applications and ranked first in the “Trending Upcoming” section of free games on Steam.
Revolutionizing Gameplay with Shard Cards
FragPunk introduces over 150 unique Shard Cards that allow players to bend the rules of combat, ensuring no two matches are ever the same. These cards offer tactical buffs and chaotic global effects, such as “Dimensional Travel,” enabling players to traverse between two worlds unseen by opponents, and “Black Hole Traps,” which generate black holes when triggered. Notably, all Shard Cards are completely free for all players, eliminating paywalls and promoting a fair gaming environment.
Diverse Lancers and Dynamic Combat
Players can choose from 13 distinctive Lancers, each possessing unique skills and personalities. The latest addition, Chum—a stone-made robot accompanied by his pet fish, Chomper—brings a fresh combat style to the roster. With an arsenal of over 20 weapons, including the new sniper rifle “Highlife” designed for aggressive play and the “Burner” secondary weapon that fires incendiary bombs, players have ample opportunities to develop their personal combat styles.
Engaging Game Modes and Vibrant Maps
FragPunk offers a variety of game modes to keep the action fresh. The “Outbreak” mode presents a zombie-survival twist where infected players join a growing horde. Other modes include “One Shot” (One-Shot-One-Kill), “Sniper Death Match” (Sniper-Only), and “Melee Death Match” (Knife-Only). Players can explore seven Shard Clash maps at launch, including “Dongtian,” an oriental battleground set within a floating mountain palace, providing diverse visual experiences as the bullets fly.
Cross-Platform Play and Free Launch Bonuses
FragPunk supports full crossplay across all platforms, allowing friends to team up regardless of their gaming system. To celebrate the launch, all players logging in can receive free bonuses, including a collection of 20 Blue-and-White Porcelain Weapon Skins, in-game currency, sticker packs, and weapon charms, enabling further customization of their loadouts.
