2K Games and Hangar 13 have officially announced that Mafia: The Old Country will release on August 8, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Nvidia GeForce Now. This prequel to the original Mafia game transports players to early 1900s Sicily, offering a focused, linear narrative experience that delves into the origins of organized crime.
Pricing and Editions
In a notable departure from the industry’s recent trend toward higher pricing, Mafia: The Old Country will launch with a $49.99 / £44.99 standard edition. A Deluxe Edition, priced at $59.99, includes several bonus content packs:
- Padrino Pack: Special weapons like the Lupara Speciale Shotgun and Vendetti Speciale Pistol, the Padrino Outfit, Immortale Charm, Stiletto Speciale Knife, Eckhart Speciale Limousine, and Cosimo Horse with accessories.
- Gatto Nero Pack: Racing-themed items.
- A digital artbook and the game’s original score.
Pre-ordering either edition rewards players with the Soldato Pack, containing the Soldato Outfit, Scannaturi Speciale Knife, Tesoro Horse with accessories, and the Lupara Charm.

Gameplay and Storyline
Set in the fictional town of San Celeste, Mafia: The Old Country follows protagonist Enzo Favara, who escapes a life of indentured labor in Sicily’s sulfur mines and joins Don Torrisi’s crime family. The game emphasizes a linear, narrative-driven experience, focusing on storytelling, authentic era immersion, and refined classic Mafia gameplay.
Players can expect:
- Third-person action-adventure gameplay with a mix of melee and ranged combat.
- Period-authentic weaponry, including early firearms and Sicilian knife fighting techniques.
- Transportation options like horseback riding and early automobiles.
- Stunning visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5, bringing 1900s Sicily to life.
Hangar 13 President Nick Baynes describes the title as “a focused, linear experience that combines quality storytelling, authentic era immersion, and a refined take on the familiar Mafia gameplay.”

Development and Language Support
Developed using Unreal Engine 5, Mafia: The Old Country aims for high visual fidelity and immersive storytelling. The game includes full audio dubbing in English, French, German, Spanish, Czech, and Russian. Notably, despite the game’s Sicilian setting, Italian is available only as a subtitle option. In response to feedback, Hangar 13 announced that the game would offer voice acting in the Sicilian language, emphasizing authenticity.
