Capcom has unveiled a captivating new trailer for “Onimusha: Way of the Sword,” the latest installment in its acclaimed action series. Set against the backdrop of early Edo-period Kyoto, now shrouded in a malevolent force known as the Malice, the game introduces players to the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi as the protagonist.
This marks a significant departure from previous entries, which featured historical figures like Samanosuke Akechi and Jubei Yagyu. Notably, Capcom has utilized the likeness of the late iconic Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune to model Musashi’s character, adding a layer of authenticity to the portrayal.

Immersive Combat Mechanics
The trailer showcases the game’s visceral combat system, emphasizing intense sword-fighting mechanics and strategic environmental interactions. Players can leverage elements of the setting, such as tatami mats and kimonos, to gain tactical advantages during battles. The footage also reveals a variety of special finishing moves that can be executed with different swords, enhancing the depth of combat.

Formidable Adversaries
Among the enemies featured in the trailer is Byakue, a formidable Genma wielding a massive axe, emerging from a mysterious aerial phenomenon. The game introduces various types of Genma, including the Hitotsume Gasa—sword, bow, and shield-wielding creatures that attack in groups and are driven by an insatiable hunger for human flesh. These demons, normally confined to hell, have invaded the mortal realm due to the spreading Malice, throwing Kyoto into chaos.

“Onimusha: Way of the Sword” is scheduled for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Fans of the series and newcomers alike can look forward to experiencing this dark fantasy adventure that blends historical settings with supernatural elements.
