The First Descendant Season 3: Major Update and NieR: Automata Crossover Unveiled

Nexon has officially announced the Season 3 update for The First Descendant, titled “Breakthrough,” set to launch in Summer 2025. This significant update introduces a plethora of new content, aiming to enhance the gameplay experience for both new and veteran players.

New Battlefield: Axion Plains

Prepare to explore the Axion Plains, a vast new region devastated by a Void Storm. This area is teeming with mutated beasts and artificial creatures, offering fresh challenges and opportunities for exploration.

Introducing the Hover Bike

Traverse the expansive Axion Plains with the new Hover Bike, designed for high-speed travel. Players can obtain a standard Hover Bike by logging in during Season 3, with enhanced models available through exploration. These bikes can be upgraded, allowing for dynamic movement using boost and jump abilities.

Colossus Field Raid: Wall Crasher

Engage in the new eight-player Colossus Field Raid featuring the formidable “Wall Crasher.” This massive boss battle is designed to match the scale of the Axion Plains, providing an epic combat experience.

The Lounge: A Personal Space

Season 3 introduces the “Lounge,” a dedicated social space where players can interact with their Descendants and customize their environment. Display your Descendants, customize appearances with skins, and interact with furniture and collectibles.

New Descendant: Nell

Former NPC Nell joins the roster as a playable character with unique telekinetic abilities. She can throw spheres that debuff enemies and convert all her gunshots into weak point strikes, catering to aggressive, run-and-gun playstyles.

Ultimate Luna and New Weapons

Season 3 will see the release of Ultimate Luna, featuring two new Transcendent Modules that shift her playstyle. Additionally, swords are being added to the game, with three types available: the “Shadow” Blade, a two-handed greatsword, and a lightsaber-style weapon. These can be equipped in the same weapon slot as firearms and offer both normal and special attacks.

NieR: Automata Collaboration: Cosmetic Enhancements

In a collaboration with Square Enix’s NieR: Automata, The First Descendant will introduce cosmetic items inspired by the game. Players can look forward to outfits of characters A2 and 2B, including a damaged version of 2B without a skirt, along with other motions and decorations. While this collaboration focuses on cosmetic enhancements, it adds a fresh aesthetic dimension to the game.

Additional Announcements

The “Gilded Death Blossom” skin will be released on May 22.
“TFD Fest” is scheduled for July to celebrate the game’s first anniversary, featuring showcases, in-game events, a skin design contest, and more.
The First Descendant is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
