“Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” Manga Enters Another Hiatus

Fans of “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” will face another pause as the manga enters an indefinite hiatus starting with the 25th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday, scheduled for release on May 15. The return date for the series remains unannounced, adding a layer of uncertainty for its followers.

Created by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe, the manga debuted in April 2020 and quickly captured fans with its engaging storytelling and character development. Despite its popularity, the series has experienced several interruptions, having only recently returned from a one-month hiatus on April 24.

Since its launch, the series has seen significant growth in popularity, especially following the successful release of its anime adaptation, which premiered with a two-hour special on September 29 last year. With over 17 million copies in circulation, the manga’s success is evident. Shogakukan has released 13 volumes, the latest on April 17. Internationally, Viz Media holds the licensing rights and plans to release the 11th English volume on September 10.

The frequent breaks, while frustrating for fans, are often necessary to maintain the quality of the manga and ensure the well-being of its creators. As the manga community awaits further updates, they can revisit earlier volumes or the anime adaptation. Despite the disruptions, “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” continues to captivate a global audience, affirming its status as a distinguished modern manga.
