Kyoto Animation’s Steampunk TV Anime ‘Sparks of Tomorrow’ Finally Gets a Release Date

After a seven-year wait since its project announcement in 2018, the steampunk drama television anime Sparks of Tomorrow (Nijusseiki Denki Mokuroku: Eureka Evrika) has finally received an official release date, slated for 2026.

The premiere was revealed by Kyoto Animation at their fan event in Kyoto, Japan, on October 25. The main visual, trailer, and lead cast and staff were also announced on X.

Sparks of Tomorrow is based on the romance light novel 20th Century Electricity Catalog about the spark ignited by a boy and a girl in search of a mysterious book that will change their world.

Written by Hiro Yuki and illustrated by Kazumi Ikeda, it was published under Kyoto Animation’s KA Esuma Bunko label in August 2018.

A Story of Regeneration

Kihachi Sakamoto loves tinkering with machines and inventing. Looking up to his older brother, he once dreamed of creating an age of electricity with him. He was a child when he recorded his visions about electricity in the “20th Century Electrical Catalog”. But when it vanished along with his older brother, his life took a turn, and he’s now regarded with suspicion.

Kihachi crosses paths with Inako Momokawa, the second daughter of a long-established sake brewery, who keeps her dreams of becoming the chief sake brewer, like her late mother, hidden. She lacks confidence but excels at trusting others, and now leads a religious life.

Together, they embark on a journey that will take them to the heart of their dreams and their steam-powered world, revealing the secrets hidden within the captivating “20th Century Electrical Catalog”.
