Aniplex announced on Monday during its Aniplex Online Fest that Saka Mikami’s manga The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity (Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku) will be adapted into a television anime by CloverWorks. The series is set to premiere in 2025. To commemorate the announcement, Mikami shared a celebratory illustration.

The manga, released in English by Kodansha USA Publishing, follows the story of Rintaro, a student at Chidori High—a school for underachievers—and Kaoruko, a student at the prestigious Kikyo Girls’ High. The two meet at Rintaro’s family patisserie and quickly form a bond. However, complications arise when Rintaro discovers Kaoruko’s true identity as a Kikyo student, creating a tension-filled narrative as they navigate the social barriers between their respective schools.

Mikami launched the manga on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket website in October 2021. The series has gained popularity, with Kodansha publishing the 13th volume in July 2023, and the second English volume released in August 2023.
