Honor of Kings: Destiny Anime Premieres May 31 on Crunchyroll

Tencent Games has officially announced that its popular MOBA, Honor of Kings, is getting its very own animated series, titled Honor of Kings: Destiny. The series is expected to premiere on May 31, 2025, on Crunchyroll, bringing the game’s rich lore to life through stunning 3D animation.

Kaizer Takes Center Stage

The animated series will revolve around the beloved hero Kaizer, a powerful fighter/tank character in the game. Once a noble from the house of Navenia, Kaizer’s life took a tragic turn when his family was afflicted by a terrible curse. In a selfless act, he chose to bear the curse himself to spare his sister from its torment. The series is expected to delve deep into Kaizer’s backstory, exploring his journey to becoming one of the guardians of the Great Wall.

High-Quality Animation and Visuals

From the trailer, the animation looks impressive, with captivating visuals and character designs. Kaizer’s design has drawn comparisons to Vergil from Devil May Cry, a nod that fans have appreciated. If Tencent can deliver a series with the quality and depth of storytelling similar to Arcane, it could be a significant success.

Additional Developments in the Honor of Kings Universe

Beyond the animated series, Tencent has announced several exciting developments for the Honor of Kings franchise:

  • A collaboration with the successful Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2, which grossed over $2.1 billion.
  • Introduction of a new hero inspired by the Three Warring States period.
  • The King Pro League (KPL) Grand Finals will be held at Beijing’s National Stadium, marking the first mobile esports event at the venue.
