“Fairy Tail” Author To Launch New Manga, “DEAD ROCK”

Hiro Mashima, the brilliant mind behind the popular manga series “Fairy Tail” and “Edens Zero,” will be launching his new manga titled “DEAD ROCK.” This dark fantasy manga will take readers on a captivating journey through Dead Rock, a prestigious Demon King training institution nestled in the depths of the demon world.

Mashima himself shared the announcement on Twitter, revealing that “DEAD ROCK” will be a short-term serialization. Fans can look forward to immersing themselves in a thrilling story as they follow the young demon Yakuto’s relentless pursuit of conquering Dead Rock’s daunting entrance examination.

Mashima’s previous works have garnered immense popularity and acclaim. His crossover manga mini-series, “Heros,” concluded in December 2019 after its launch in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in October 2019. “Edens Zero,” another creation by Mashima, entered its final arc in December. The latest volume, the 26th compilation, was published by Kodansha on April 17.

Of course, “Fairy Tail” remains a significant milestone in Mashima’s career. The manga, which captivated readers since its launch in 2006, concluded in July 2017. Its final anime season premiered in Japan in October 2018 and concluded in September 2019. Crunchyroll and Funimation streamed the anime series, both with English subtitles and an English dub.

Mashima’s imaginative storytelling has inspired numerous adaptations, including two television anime, two anime films, original video anime projects, and spinoff manga. Kodansha USA Publishing has been instrumental in bringing these works to North American audiences. In addition to his manga creations, Mashima is lending his artistic talents to Marvelous’ exciting new game, “Project Magia,” where he is responsible for character designs.
