Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 Announced

The anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is officially returning for a second season, with studio Madhouse once again handling the animation. The announcement was made at the anime’s anniversary event, where the cast of both the original hero’s party and the new party appeared. A teaser visual and trailer were also released during the event.

The first season of the anime premiered in September 2023, with its second cour airing in January 2024. The season concluded on March 22 with a message indicating that the story would continue.

The anime is based on the manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, which has been serialized since April 2020 in Weekly Shonen Sunday. For the announcement, Abe created a special commemorative visual.

Studio Madhouse, known for works such as A Place Further Than The Universe, produced the first season under the direction of Keiichiro Saito (Bocchi the Rock!). The script was written by Tomohiro Suzuki (One Punch Man), music was composed by Evan Call (Violet Evergarden), and characters were designed by Reiko Nagasawa (takt op. Destiny).

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is streamed by Crunchyroll, which describes the story as a reflection on mortality and the elven mage Frieren’s quest to fulfill the wishes of her former companions.
