Sakamoto Days Anime Set to Premiere in January 2025

Shueisha has announced that Yuuto Suzuki’s “Sakamoto Days” will be adapted into a television anime series airing in January 2025. The announcement came through the company’s inaugural “Jump Press” video, revealing that Tomokazu Sugita will voice the protagonist, Taro Sakamoto.

Talented Team Behind the Scenes

The anime boasts an impressive production team. Masaki Watanabe, known for “KADO – The Right Answer” and “Bartender”, will direct the series at TMS Entertainment. Taku Kishimoto, whose credits include “BLUELOCK” and “Haikyu!!”, will oversee the series scripts. Character design will be handled by Yō Moriyama, noted for “Lupin the 3rd: Goemon’s Blood Spray” and “Lupin the 3rd: Jigen’s Gravestone”.

Early Buzz and Netflix Involvement

The excitement surrounding the anime is amplified by its listing among “Netflix Upcoming Releases” for 2024, as revealed in an interview with Josh Simon, Netflix’s vice president, by the licensing news service License Global. This suggests that the series may see a global release on the streaming platform.

The Story of Sakamoto Days

The story centers on Taro Sakamoto, a once-legendary assassin who retires after falling in love. Now a married man and father, Sakamoto runs a neighborhood store, having gained weight and appearing unassuming. However, his past catches up with him, and he must protect his family from looming dangers while maintaining his cover. The manga blends action and comedy, offering a fresh take on the hitman genre.
