Fans of the Solo Leveling anime adaptation have reason to rejoice as the highly anticipated second season has been officially confirmed. Titled “Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-,” this announcement was made by the anime’s staff in a video released on Saturday.
Based on the immensely popular manhwa created by writer Chugong and the late artist DUBU of REDICE Studio, the anime adaptation debuted in Japan on January 6, and quickly garnered attention for its stunning animation and faithful adaptation of the source material.
For those unfamiliar with the series, Solo Leveling is set in a world where mysterious “gates” connect our reality with another dimension. Certain individuals known as “hunters” possess supernatural powers and make a living by conquering dungeons within these gates. The story follows Jinwoo Sung, initially regarded as the weakest hunter, who embarks on a journey of self-discovery and growth after a fateful encounter leaves him on the brink of death.

Directed by Shunsuke Nakashige and produced by A-1 Pictures, the anime boasts a talented team including head writer Noboru Kimura and character designer Tomoko Sudo. Renowned composer Hiroyuki Sawano, known for his work on series like Attack on Titan and Kill la Kill, provides the musical score for the series.
Additionally, the opening theme song “LEveL” is performed by the BTS sibling idol group TOMORROW X TOGETHER and composed by Hiroyuki Sawano himself.
Solo Leveling began its journey as a webtoon in March 2018, captivating readers with its intense action and intriguing storyline until its conclusion in December 2021. The series has since been published in English by Yen Press and in Japanese by Kadokawa under the title “Ore Dake Level-Up na Ken.”
In addition to the anime adaptation, Solo Leveling inspires a Korean live-action adaptation, further solidifying its status as a cultural phenomenon.
