Sunrise and Evangelion Studio Announce New Mobile Suit Gundam Series: GQuuuuuuX

Iconic anime studios Sunrise and Khara have announced their first collaboration: Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. This highly anticipated TV series and film project was revealed during the Gundam Conference WINTER 2024, signaling a groundbreaking partnership between the creators of Gundam and the Rebuild of Evangelion series.

A Stellar Creative Team

The project brings together some of anime’s most influential creators:

  • Director: Kazuya Tsurumaki (Rebuild of Evangelion)
  • Series Composition: Yoji Enokido (Evangelion, Sailor Moon, Revolutionary Girl Utena) and Hideaki Anno (Evangelion creator)
  • Mechanical Design: Ikuto Yamashita (Evangelion, Gunbuster)

This collaboration is expected to blend Gundam’s mecha legacy with the visionary storytelling of Evangelion.

Release Plans

The series will first debut as a reconstructed film version, premiering in 373 theaters across Japan on Jan. 17, 2025. Following the film’s release, the TV series is set to air, although details on the exact broadcast schedule are yet to be announced.

Fans can look forward to character visuals and the official trailer, which were also unveiled at the Gundam Conference. The teaser showcases the unique artistic fusion of Sunrise and Khara, building excitement for what promises to be a landmark anime series.
